Editorial Standards

Every Parasocial story is held to a written, versioned standards record before it can be scheduled. The rules that matter most to readers:

  • Sourcing. Every factual claim carries a named source. The central claim of a story needs two independent sources or it does not run. We cite at most two outside outlets per story and always prefer primary sources: the creator’s own posts, the company’s own statements, official documents.
  • Quotes. Quoted words are verbatim or they are not inside quotation marks.
  • No gossip. No rumors, no unverified claims, no personal-life speculation unless publicly confirmed by the creator.
  • Imagery. News heroes depict the story’s subject, sourced from the subject’s own channels, official press assets, or our own library. We never use stock, agency, or paparazzi imagery.
  • AI assistance, human judgment. Drafting is AI-accelerated; every story passes deterministic quality gates and a human editor approves the words before anything is scheduled. Bylines are real, consenting contributors.

The full internal rulebook is versioned, and every published story records which version it was produced under.

Ethics

Sourcing

Every factual claim carries a named source, and the central claim of a story needs two independent sources or it does not run. We prefer primary sources over borrowed reporting: a creator’s own posts, a company’s own statements, official documents and filings. We cite at most two outside outlets in a story, so a piece is assembled from evidence rather than aggregated from other people’s work. Stats aggregators, tracker sites, wikis, and anonymous or fan accounts are not sufficient support for a factual claim. Where a figure is derived — a pace, a gap, a multiple — the figures it is derived from appear in the story.

Conflicts of interest

Parasocial Magazine is published by Denali Labs. Where we report on a company Denali Labs has an interest in, that interest is disclosed in the story. Writers do not cover creators, companies, or products they hold a financial stake in or have an undisclosed relationship with, and do not accept payment, equity, gifts, or travel from the subjects of their coverage. Review units and press access are disclosed where they inform a piece. No coverage decision is made or altered as a favour.

Sponsors and editorial separation

Sponsors buy adjacency to our audience. They do not buy coverage, position, or methodology. A sponsor cannot obtain, influence, or preview a chart position; sponsorship has no pathway into how the Parasocial charts are built or scored, and no sponsored placement appears inside a chart. Being a sponsor is neither a reason to cover a company nor a reason not to — a sponsor is reported on exactly as any other subject would be, including when the story is unflattering. Paid and sponsored content is labelled as such and is never presented as editorial. The newsroom shares no scoring pathway with the commercial side of the business.

Corrections

We publish our own errors on the same terms as anyone else’s. Our correction process, including the two-business-day acknowledgement and ten-business-day answer we commit to, is set out at Corrections. Chart corrections are additionally documented note by note at /charts/integrity/.
